Calligraphy — Thuluth & Diwani

Do not complain to people about a wound that is yours; only the one who bears the pain feels its true ache.

Negmedin is a Cairo-based calligrapher whose practice sits at the meeting point of classical Arabic scripts and salvaged architectural form. Trained in the Thuluth and Diwani traditions, he treats antique furniture, doors, and panels as surfaces for verse — letting gilt, ink, and lacquer settle into the grain of carved wood, the weave of velvet, and the patina of brass.
His collaborations with Dar Senosi extend a centuries-old conversation between text and object: a verse written across a door becomes both ornament and threshold; a line of Diwani drawn over a chest becomes both calligraphy and inventory. Each piece is signed, dated, and produced in a single edition.
