Nour El-Masry
Mixed Media — Calligraphy & Faience
A room remembers everything ever hung upon its walls.
Nour El-Masry composes memory walls — layered tableaux of calligraphic panels, hand-painted faience, salvaged portraiture, and small ornament. Her practice is drawn from the Egyptian domestic interior of the early twentieth century, where a single object rarely stood alone and where meaning emerged through arrangement.
Working with Dar Senosi, she lets one inscription anchor a chorus of smaller pieces: a turquoise calligraphic disc presides over a wall of family-style faience plates, framed verse, and quiet personal photography. The wall reads as a curated narrative rather than a collection of decoration.
Her compositions are made to be lived with — read slowly, rearranged across seasons, and inherited.
